Get a validated pointer to a “file” array entry;
Check that the file is a “character special”;
Call the appropriate “d_sgtty” routine for the device type. (See Sheet 46.)
Note that the “d_sgtty” routine is “nodev” for the line printer and paper tape reader/punch.
